Welcome
to LVS
I am so glad to have you with us at Lawrence Virtual School. I will be your child's educational specialist and together we will make up your child's educational team. I have been teaching since 2009, and with the virtual world since Fall 2011. I live with my husband and three children. I come from a family of educators who are changing the world one child at a time.
One thing about the virtual world is that it is always changing and I have learned to be flexible and change with it. To start the year you and your child will be working hard to find your groove. Here are some things to think about as you start school:
- classroom arrangement - Daily School schedule - End date goal
As you start the school year and begin to find your groove these are some GOALS I have for us:
Thank you so much for taking the time to look over all this information. It can be overwhelming as you begin our program for the first time, and even as you are a returning family just getting back to school. I am here for you by phone, kmail or e-mail. My office hours are Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Friday 7:00 AM to 11:30 PM (I do a lot of field trips of Friday afternoons, so while I am home most of the time on Friday afternoons until 3:00 unless I am on a field trip) Please, feel free to call me outside of those hours, but those are the best times to reach me.
I look forward to chatting with you on the phone for our initial conference call and getting to start spending online time getting to know your child.

- classroom arrangement - Daily School schedule - End date goal
As you start the school year and begin to find your groove these are some GOALS I have for us:
- As we begin try focus on literature and math ( Try to work in every subject this first two weeks, but don’t worry about doing EVERY subject EVERY day, just do what you can and ease into the year)
- As you start to understand the daily plan, try to do a math lesson EVERY day (you may not complete a WHOLE lesson every day, but you should be able to complete one every other day even as you are just starting out.
- By September make a goal to complete your literature lessons on each day's daily plan (if your child is a little overwhelmed at first, don't be afraid to share in their load and take turns reading when needed) If it is still feeling like too much, please give me a call and let’s talk about an alternative plan.
- Do NOT miss the audit days in September.. these are days when your child will have to do lessons in EVERY subject. We will discuss this more at a later date.
- Make sure if your child is going to miss a day of school work (due to illness, vacation, technical issues) Kmail or call me as soon as you can. Kmails are great because they are a wonderful form of documentation of our communications, sometimes kmails are not possible and a phone call is also good (even if you just leave me a message) 620-263-3314
- Small Group class sessions begin the first Tuesday in September. You can find my group class schedule on the main page of this website, towards the bottom of the page. I ask that for the Months of September through February that your child join me one of the two sessions offered Tuesday through Thursday. These sessions are great math and literature prep and some time to socialize with other students.
- One-on-One communication will be very important especially as we lead into this first trimester. I will be trying to gage your child's needs and strengths through spending one-on-one time with them in our virtual classroom http://tinyurl.com/voliclark During our first conference call I will try to find a day and time to meet with you and your child in my elluminate virtual classroom each week. If for some reason we are unable to meet during a scheduled day, we can usually make them up on the phone or by kmail.
